Ever been to a trampoline park?

Up until Saturday afternoon, my answer would have been… Nope.

Then Saturday came along…

We were invited by some of our best friends to go to a birthday party for their daughter at a trampoline park in Winston-Salem.

I must say, we had a great time! Our five year old had the time of his life. Our two year old thought it was his birthday and didn’t want to leave.

Hell, I even jumped into the foam pit a couple of times… Let’s talk about that foam pit for a second…

That was a pit of misery. You feel like you are in quick sand. At one point, my watch asked me if I wanted to record what I was doing as a workout?… Of course I did.

All in all, like I said… We had a great time!

Now that I’ve said we had a great time(not once, but twice), I feel like I must tell you what I was thinking leading up to this day…

I am not a big fan of crowds. People make me anxious. Its a problem.

I don’t like other peoples kids. I love our kids. I love our friends and families kids. But, other peoples kids… not so much.

I knew that I would be walking into an establishment that would check both of those boxes… It will be full of people and those other peoples children…

What was I going to do?

Admittedly, I tried to get out of it. The best excuse I could come up with was one that we use on occasion… our kids. In this case, the two year old… Nap Time.

If that little knuckle head doesn’t have a nap, he will turn into the spawn of Satan at some point in the evening. Neither me, my wife, or our dog want anything to do with that.

My plan was to stay at home to make sure Dr. Jekyll didn’t turn into Mr. Hyde.

Saturday morning came along and our five year old was super excited and wanted me to come with him to the party. You could see the excitement on his face. I also know that it takes him some time to warm up around people in crowds… He’s got what I’ve got.

I knew what I had to do…

I had to put my big boy daddy pants on… and go.

I did stay at home with the two year old for about an hour…(what I said about the naps is real). After the nap we got in the truck and made our way.

Once we got there and I saw how much fun the five year old was having, and how much he wanted me to do everything with him (including risking my life in the foam pit)… I knew that I made the right decision.

Did this fix my dislike of crowds?… Nope.

Do I like other peoples kids now?… Nope.

I’m still working on that.
