I Still Watch Wrestling…

I still watch Wrestling.

To this day, I still watch WWE Monday Night Raw, Friday Night Smackdown, and all of the Premium Live Events (Wrestlemania, Summer Slam, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series…etc)

I’ve been watching it since I was in elementary school.

My dad and I would watch every Saturday morning and Monday nights. Especially during the Monday Night Wars…WCW vs WWF(E)

I did take a little break from it while in college, but then got sucked back in.

The most common response I get when I make it known that I still watch wrestling is…

“You know it’s not real, right?”

No Way! It’s not Real? You’ve got to be kidding me!

Of course its not real!

What kind of psychopath would I be if I believed that the Undertaker is a real dead man?

What kind of lunatic would I be if I believed that Stone Cold Steve Austin was able to get away with smashing his boss in the head with a bedpan while in the hospital?

What kind of deranged man would I be if I believed that John Cena was truly invisible?

That would be insane.

So why do I still watch wrestling?

The same reason people watch shows like… The Bachelor or really any reality TV show on Bravo.

Its entertainment.

In my opinion, wrestling is the most compelling form of entertainment.

What else could you want? Good guys vs bad guys, backstabbing, cut throat personalities, comedy,  heartbreaking moments followed by the ultimate comeback!

Wrestling has it all.

-The Rock vs Stone Cold.

-Seth Rollins turning his back on The Shield.

-Brock Lesnar destroying every person that stands in his way

-R-Truth having a conversation with an imaginary person (little Jimmy)

-Adam “Edge” Copeland retiring from wrestling due to neck injury in 2011 – Then come back in 2020 and compete in the Royal Rumble.

-Cody Rhodes finishing his story

I know to some of you, none of that makes sense or you just don’t care…

And that is okay.

I am still going to watch wrestling. I am still going to get caught up in the stories. I am still going to be entertained.

I’m a 37 year-old dad, proud husband, and on-time tick bite survivor. I’ve got two high-energy boys who think sleep is optional and gravity is just a suggestion. If there’s one thing fatherhood has taught me, it’s this: Emprace the chaos, buckle up, and enjoy the wild, snack-crumb-covered ride.
