Last night I was reminded by an old friend just how badass our generation is (Millennials)…

Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, before Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), TikTok, and Farmersonly.com, we set the world ablaze!

This is back in the times where we only used our home computers to give them cyber-aids by downloading questionable content on Limewire.

But what did we do??

We created and spread a rumor that went from coast to coast. From nation to nation. Without the use of any social media platforms mentioned before.

And what was that rumor?…

We created the rumor that Marilyn Manson (a provocative and somewhat unsettling rockstar and human being) had two of his own ribs removed so that he could…well…just google it.

Every kid my age knew this and shared it…

Not by posting tweets (or are they called Xs now?) Not by making TikTok’s or Instagram Reels.

This was done by word of mouth.

Nobody knew how this rumor started.

Hell, I still don’t know if it is true or not.

All I know is, something of this magnitude will never happen again.

Gen Z/Gen Alpha/and future Gens will never be able to come up with and spread a rumor that will reach the entire globe just by simply using word of mouth.

They don’t make them like they used to!

To my millennial brothers and sisters! Stand up! Be proud!

We were built different!

Also, just in case you haven’t thought about it in a while…

The Game…

I’m a 37 year-old dad, proud husband, and on-time tick bite survivor. I’ve got two high-energy boys who think sleep is optional and gravity is just a suggestion. If there’s one thing fatherhood has taught me, it’s this: Emprace the chaos, buckle up, and enjoy the wild, snack-crumb-covered ride.
