As I sit here right now, I’m listening to Bussin’ With the Boys. Will Compton, Taylor Lewan, and Josh Pate are discussing something that brings me so much joy for half the year. I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa Claus to come.
And guess what?
Santa Claus is coming to town, BABY.
Next weekend…
Football…
Is…
BACK.
That’s right — my favorite time of the year is practically here.
It’s the season when the air starts to cool, white women are consuming anything and everything with pumpkin spice, the leaves start changing…
And TRUE RED-BLOODED AMERICANS are glued to College GameDay.
There are three things that are important and consistent in my life:
Faith, Family, and Football — in that order.
(And with that said… if you’re a family member or a friend I consider family — don’t plan anything important on a Saturday in the fall. You’ve been warned.)
One thing I haven’t quite succeeded at is getting my wife and kids fully on board with football. College or NFL.
Leanna technically pulls for Alabama and the Panthers, but not with the kind of dedication I’d like to see.
It’s a work in progress.
Honestly, I don’t know how people who don’t watch sports function.
What do you even look forward to?
Josh Pate said it best on Bussin’ — and I’m paraphrasing here:
“If it’s a Wednesday in March and you’re having a bad day… it’s just a bad day.
But if it’s a Wednesday in the fall and you’re having a bad day?
You’ve got college football to look forward to. Every. Saturday. Until January.”
So again, if you don’t watch sports… what do you look forward to?
Pumpkin patches?
No judgment — I just don’t get it. It genuinely baffles me. My brain can’t compute.
It’s like wiping before you poop — it just doesn’t make sense.
Here’s to another incredible season of college football.
Another season of trash talk at work.
Another season of pulling for my two favorite teams:
Alabama… and whoever’s playing that other school in Alabama.
